An Example Helps You Write a Better Argumentative Essay on Social Media

Social media is something every student knows a lot about, that’s for sure. Most of the students nowadays are using one form of social media or another. However, when it comes to writing a social media research paper, things take a turn for the worst. Writing academic content about even a trivial topic such as social media is not something most students know how to do. However, you don’t really have any options, do you? You need to write that social media argumentative essay or you will get a low grade. Don’t worry; all you need is a good example of a research paper. Social media is not a difficult topic, so you will do just fine!

The Effects of Social Media on College Students

Over the last few years, the online world has been in a constant change. Various companies developed social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) that are changing the way people interact online. Now it is easier than ever to share ideas, exchange opinions, collaborate on projects, and share multimedia content (photos, videos, audio files) via social media. Over 73% of American teens are active on social media. Some studies suggest that social media website encourage antisocial behavior such as procrastination, drug use and drinking. It is my opinion that social media is not directly responsible for these behaviors and that social media has positive effects on college students.

Why Students Use Social Media

Students use social media for a wide variety of reasons. It allows them to keep in touch with family and friends. Social media helps students interact with each other but does not have any direct impact on their grades. If students wouldn’t use social media, they would use other means of communication such as chat rooms and their mobile phones.
Also, many students actually benefit from networking on social media. They are happier and are tending to their social lives. In addition, most students use social media for school to get ideas and help with some of their projects from more experienced people.

Negative Effects on College Students

By 2008, 99 percent of college students had a Facebook account. This is an extraordinary number of accounts. One study by OnlinePhD found that the average student spends around 100 minutes on Facebook every day. This means that social media can take away some of the time reserved for study.
Many students use social media sites while in class or while doing homework. They are distracted, so this may affect their grades somewhat. However, no study was able to demonstrate this clearly. Evidence is conflicting.

Positive Effects of Social Media

Youths can use social media as a tool to enhance their learning abilities. They can connect with their peers and get help on difficult projects. They can share information and get useful advice on social media. Also, a study shows that social media increases student’s happiness because it enables them to have a healthy social life.
Students who are not very active in class are often very active on social media. Often, they write exceptionally well for large audiences on Facebook or blogging platforms.
Students learn online communication skills on social media and become engaged with people of different ages and cultures. They learn to be able to quickly socialize with people they never met before.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, I believe that the benefits of using social media far outweigh the risks. It is my opinion that if students wouldn’t use social media, they would find other tools to use and the results would be the same, if not worse. In other words, social media websites such as Facebook are having a mostly positive effect on students who want to learn and who are interested in their school activities.
